The Role – SENCO
For this SENCO role you will be required to make sure all of the students have the correct help and support they need, so they are able to get the most out of their education. To make sure these requirements are met you will be liaising with other members of staff, parents, psychologists and more. You will also be required to teach 2 days a week by following the National Curriculum up to GCSE level. The ideal SENCO for this role will need to have previous experience and be fully qualified.
The School – Pupil Referral Unit
This Pupil Referral Unit is found in the London borough of Lambeth. They currently have 160 students on role aged between 7-16 years, all of these students have been removed from a mainstream school due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs as well as Challenging Behaviour. Their main goal is to give their students support in order to improve their behaviour and attitude towards their education. In their last Ofsted in 2018, they were reviewed as ‘good’ in all areas.
